Rib Pain
There are 12 pairs of ribs of which 10 are attached to sternum (the hard bone
starts under neck and ends at your stomach) in the front and to the spine in
your back. The two lower ribs attach only to your spine and float in the front.
While rib fractures can occur, a more common and easily induced situation is
where the rib is subluxated either where the rib connects to the spine or the
sternum.
When you go 'out' for the night, it's usually fun... When a rib 'goes out' it is anything
but fun. This can be a very painful experience. It is not unusual for this pain to make you
yell out, have difficultly taking a deep breath, or it may even knock you down. Usually rib pain is the
back not far from the spine. Occasionally it will radiate into the side or through to your chest.
